Vocabulary: Japanese On’yomi & Sino-Korean: no. 3

I utilized the Revised Romanization of Korean in the past two “Vocabulary: Japanese On’yomi & Sino-Korean” posts. For this post, however, I will use the McCune-Reischauer Romanization of Korean.

Japanese on’yomi pronunciation:ビ (bi)          Korean pronunciation: 미 (mi)

VOCABULARY:

art museum

Japanese: ビジュツカン「美術館」(bijutsukan)       Korean: 미술관 (misulkwan)

beautiful person (woman)

Japanese: ビジン「美人」(bijin)       Korean: 미인 (miin)

graceful/elegant; delicate; refined

Japanese: ユウビ「優美」(yuubi)       Korean: 우미 (umi)

Japanese on’yomi pronunciation:セン (sen)            Korean pronunciation: 선 (seon)

VOCABULARY:

Japanese: デントウブンカ「選挙」(senkyo)       Korean: 선거 (sŏnkŏ)
